Project title: Assistants for Healthy, Safe, and Productive Virtual Construction Design, Operation & Maintenance using a
Digitial Twin
Project website: ashvin.eu
Project duration: 10/2020-09/2023
Funding: European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement Number 958161
To enable the European construction industry to significantly improve its productivity, while reducing cost and ensuring safe work conditions, ASHVIN will provide the first of its kind digital twin platform that will be completely IoT ready and that will be interoperable with a wide range of design and engineering applications. Through this interoperability, the ASHVIN platform will be able to represent as-designed models. At the same time, through the integration with a wide range of sensors (including photogrammetric sensors) a continuous synchronization between the as-designed and the as-built models will be achieved.
The envisioned platform is providing a digital representation of the construction product at hand and allow to collect real-time digital data before, during, and after production of the product to continuously monitor changes in the environment and within the production process. The Ashvin solutions will overcome worker protection and privacy issues that come with the tracking of construction activities, provide means to fuse video data and sensor data, integrate geo-monitoring data, provide multi-physics simulation methods for digital representing the behaviour of a product (not only its shape), provide evidence based engineering methods to design for productivity and safety, provide 4D simulation and visualization methods of construction processes, and develop a lean planning process supported by real-time data. ASHVIN will demonstrate its innovations on real-world projects. Ten real life projects across Europe from different areas of construction have been identified including Zadar Airport, Croatia.
