Climate Resilient Port Infrastructure

The CLARION project addresses the pressing challenge of climate change adaptation in European port infrastructure. As climate change accelerates, ports face increasing threats from rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and changing environmental conditions that can disrupt critical maritime operations and supply chains.
CLARION develops and demonstrates innovative solutions for climate-resilient port infrastructure through an integrated approach combining advanced monitoring systems, predictive modelling, and adaptive management strategies. The project brings together leading research institutions, port authorities, and industry partners across Europe to create a comprehensive framework for assessing and improving port resilience.
The project focuses on developing digital twin technology for port infrastructure, enabling real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance. Advanced climate models are integrated with structural health monitoring systems to provide early warning capabilities and support informed decision-making for infrastructure management.
Key innovations include the development of new materials and construction techniques adapted to changing climate conditions, as well as nature-based solutions that enhance both infrastructure resilience and environmental sustainability.
