Doctoral researchers from the FOURIER Doctoral Network, including Lou and Hamed, who are hosted by Infra Plan Consulting, gathered in Vienna for the project’s first Industrial Days to exchange ideas, discuss research challenges, and gain first-hand insight into how structural health monitoring is applied in practice.
The programme included presentations by experts from VCE and STRUCINSPECT, covering topics such as road infrastructure asset management and modern inspection practices.
On the second day, participants visited the historic Otto Wagner Lock Building, where they learned how monitoring systems are used to track settlement and crack development in a real structure. The programme concluded with a visit to the VCE laboratory, where participants saw how the sensors used in the field are assembled, prepared, and tested before deployment.
